Guessing is expensive. Bag math shouldn't be.
A 400 sq ft bed at the wrong mulch depth costs an extra $80 in bags — or a second trip to the yard on Saturday. Multiply that across every material in a full landscape: gravel, topsoil, pavers, edging, fence posts, deck stain, chlorine.
LandscapingCalc turns every one of those decisions into a two-input answer. Length × width, or square footage × depth, or gallons × ppm. The output is what you actually buy: bags, yards, tons, tubes, pallets, gallons.
No sign-up. No email gate. No 2,000-word blog before the calculator.
Questions homeowners & pros ask us.
How accurate are LandscapingCalc's estimates?+
Every calculator uses the same volume, coverage and dosing formulas contractors use — cubic yards for bulk material, coverage-per-bag for bagged product, and manufacturer dosing rates for pool chemistry. We show the worked example next to each result so you can verify the math before you buy.
Are the calculators free?+
Yes. 10 of our most-used calculators — mulch, gravel, topsoil, sod, grass seed, raised beds, pavers, fencing, pool volume and pool salt — are free forever. The remaining 48 are unlocked with Pro at $12/month, along with saved projects, AI proposals and branded PDF quotes.
How much mulch do I need for a garden bed?+
Multiply length × width × depth (in feet), then divide by 27 to get cubic yards. At the standard 3-inch depth, one cubic yard covers about 108 square feet. Our mulch calculator does this automatically and returns bag counts for 2-cu-ft bags.
Do you support metric units?+
Every calculator toggles between US customary (feet, inches, gallons, tons) and metric (meters, centimeters, liters, tonnes). The formulas are unit-agnostic, so results match either way, and your unit preference is remembered across the site.
Is LandscapingCalc built for contractors or homeowners?+
Both. Homeowners get free, no-signup estimates for a single project. Contractors upgrade to Pro to save projects per client, combine multiple calculators into one shopping list, and export a branded PDF quote in seconds.
What is the AI Proposal Generator?+
Feed in a calculator estimate and the AI drafts a full client-ready proposal — scope of work, materials, assumptions, exclusions, timeline, payment terms and warranty. You review, edit and export to PDF. It's included with Pro.
